On a recent trip to the coastal town of Vung Tau, my family and I headed to the newly opened Worldwide Museum for a look. And lets just say everyone - my wife and 5 y/o son included - loved it!
Founder, Robert (Bob) Taylor and his wife, Ms Bong, have set about filling this 1,500 sqm museum into what I would say is one of, if not, the best museum I have seen in Vietnam!
Bob has collected items from around the globe for the past 40 odd years. Now owning several thousand weapons and uniforms, you will see items covering everything from the vikings and knights to various Military Groups from around the world including Europe, Africa, China, Persia, Netherlands and much more.
It's fair to say that even the most hardy of historians will be mesmerized ! And to make it easy, all displays have explanations in both English and Vietnamese
Along with all the military gear, Bob also has a dozen or so monkeys which he has rescued from around the local area. Now keept at the rear of the museum in huge funky enclosures, the monkey's can be seen swinging playfully from the roof top terrace.
Entrance to the museum is 100,000VND per person including a local guide to show you around. There is also a roof top cafe where you can eat and drink while taking in the stunning views over Vung Tau or watch the monkeys run a muck!.

Overall Bob and Bong have done a tremendous job in setting up this museum. If you're looking for a great day out of HCMC or looking for something to do in Vung Tau, this place is highly recommended.
