A while back local Authorities made the Ancient Town of Hoi An a car/motorbike free zone each weekend. With its success, this was increased to 4 days a week. Now, a new regulation has been issued which will only allow cars and motorbikes access to the Ancient Quarter on Thursdays and Fridays.

This is a great move by the local government and will not mean travelers can wonder the magical streets of Hoi An with out horns and crazy drivers, it will hopefully go someway to help and protect many of the old building, some over 300 years old.

The Hoi An People’s Committee plan to have the Ancient Streets pedestrian only seven days a week in the near future.
