Pac Bo Cave - North Vietnam
Pac Bo Cave is famous as it is where in 1941, President Ho Chi Minh returned after nearly 30 years outside of Vietnam. Here, he established a residence and also worked on the plans for Vietnam's Revolutionary efforts.
At the base of Karl Mark Mountain (named by Pres. Ho Chi Minh) is the Le Nin River. It is near here that the cave is located. The area is quite amazing with crystal clear water and an amazing array of plants and fauna. Due to the fact that Ho Chi Minh lived in the area, Vietnamese travelers are quickly embarking on tours to the area. Only 1km from from the Cave, Ho Chi Minh held the 8th Session of the Indochina Communist Party Conference in 1941.
Pac Bo is located 285km north of Hanoi, 75km from Ta Lung Border Gate (Chinese Border) and 55km from Cao Bang Town.
Final Word - A real effort is required to make to journey to Pac Bo Cave. The 300km will take at least 8 hours due to road conditions. However, travelers will be amazed by just how beautiful the area is.
A visit to Pac Bo could be combined with a trek of several days in this area or a visit to Ba Be National Park. Consult a local travel agent or email Adam for tour details and costs. Permits are required for some areas due to the proximity to the Chinese Border.
