Arriving in to Phnom Penh - Cambodia

For travelers heading to Phnom Penh there are several modes of transport you can use and a number of destinations you can arrive from. Here are the basic's you need know about getting to Cambodia's capital city.
Bus
By far the cheapest way to travel, buses arrive in to Phnom Penh from Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, Kampot, Kampong Charm or many smaller towns around Cambodia.
Most of the bus companies drop off around the Central Market or along the river road. To reach your hotel, jumped in a tuk tuk or motorcycle taxi which should be only a few dollars.
Bus also run between Ho Chi Minh and Thailand to Phnom Penh dropping off in the same area as mentioned above.
Plane
Around 30 minutes from central Phnom Penh is the Internation/Domestic airport. Flights arrive in to the capital from various destinations around Asia including HCMC, Hanoi, Bangkok and Singapore.
Domestic flights arrive from Siem Reap and Battambong several times a day. A taxi from the airport to central Phnom Penh costs around $7/8USD, while a motorbike taxi should be around $2/3USD.
Boat
Ferry services run from Siem Reap in the north and Chau Doc, in Vietnam's Mekong Delta. The service from Siem Reap costs around 25USD and takes 6 hours, while the Chau Doc/Phnom Penh ferry service costs 15USD and takes around 4/5 hours.
Note: If your traveling into Cambodia, visa's can be brought at the border ($25USD). If you are traveling into Vietnam, you must have a visa before arrival, you can not buy at the border.
Train
A train servie operates between Phnom Penh to Battambang. It's very cheap and very slow. Expect the journey to take all day!
